2nd Annual Bluegrass & Arts Festival

We've been planning this one for a while! The musicians we have scheduled to perform on May 17 will set the stage on fire and leave the crowd wanting more. The Union Mills Learning Center is proud to announce that the headlining act this year will be performed by the local husband and wife duo, Darin & Brooke Aldridge! The Cherryville couple will perform multiple sets at the festival as well as conduct some bluegrass music workshops. What could be more exciting than spending the day listening to some of the best bluegrass/folk musicians around? The answer to that is, doing the same thing the night before! This year, we have a special pre-festival "kick-off" show that will be free to festival ticket holders. It was just too hard to squeeze all of the local and talented musicians in on Saturday, so we're currently working on a line-up for the evening of Friday, May 16. How's that sound? Oh... and as if Darin & Brooke wasn't enough bang for your buck, we also have several multi-award winning bluegrass bands in the lineup, many of which have landed high on the national bluegrass charts. In addition, the East Tennessee State University Bluegrass band is scheduled to take the stage and show off their blend of bluegrass, old-time, and country music tunes. Throughout the festival, ticket holders will be able to shop with vendors, observe the live cultural demonstrations, attend workshops, and best of all, enjoy some of the finest barbeque this side of the Appalachian Mountains. The Music at the Mills Bluegrass & Arts Festival is a family-oriented event, therefore alcohol consumption is prohibited on festival grounds. For more updates and information, like us on facebook. Tickets for the event are $8 in advance and $10 at the gate. Children 12 and under get in free. All early ticket holders will receive a free festival poster.
